Joel has been with the Fennell West team for two years as a Financial Planning Associate in the Camperdown office. Here he tells us about life outside work … from growing up on a farm, what he loves about his job and a few entertaining facts about himself.
Three words to describe your role?
Do as told.
The best thing about working at Fennell West?
The culture created by everyone I work with.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
Probably would have followed through with doing accounting.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Play the banjo.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet and why?
The Zodiac Killer – I’d really like to find out who he actually was.
Favourite book, movie and song?
Book – One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Movie – The Shawshank Redemption
Song – Sympathy for the Devil – The Rolling Stones
Craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Jumped from the second floor of a hotel balcony at a wedding. Broke my heel in the process.
Your guilty pleasure?
Listening to serial killer podcasts.
What’s your ideal travel destination and why?
Mexico, I travelled there in 2014 and have always wanted to go back. Beach, beer and burritos – what’s not to like?
Favourite thing to do in your spare time?
I waste all my spare time with Netflix.
Your earliest childhood memory?
Having grown up on a farm, it is sitting on the front of the quad bike while getting the cows to be milked.
What’s the greatest bit of advice a parent or mentor has given you?
“Keep cool, do not freeze.” I got it from a mayonnaise jar but I still think it’s good advice.
